I lost 15lbs of FAT in about 4 weeks. I know this because of body fat composition tests and what not.

I did HIIT -- High Intensity Intervaul Training. It is a really great training method.

I started off doing 4 minutes worth of cardio. 30 second job, 30 second sprint (with the tredmill on the FASTEST I could run!) -- eventually, by the 3rd day, I was off the tredmill and doing it on a track we have at our gym.

Basically you work from 4 minutes up until 15-17 minutes... where you are sprinting and jogging(or walking if you are blasted) -- this will burn calories not only WHILE you are doing cardio... but for HOURS afterward... and not for nothing... but you will also spare muscle in the process.

For you JWILL -- you could do it on a bike... just Peddle as fast as you can (at a decent resistence level) for 30 seconds... then peddle down.

You'll find you are doing cardio for LESS time, it will be more fun, and a hell of alot more intense.

I lost 15 lbs of FAT in FOUR weeks -- I was eating proper as well... good carbs, high protein... and no junk.

Due to my fast metabolism, four 30 minute sessions per week are sufficient for burning extra calories and fat. Of course, I stay bundled up in sweats, so I lose about 3lbs of water.

I like doing my cardio in the early morning, prior to having anything other then water, w/ a he art rate monitor....keeping myself in my target heart rate zone...

works for me

Citruscide, is it basically say the first day I start HIIT, say for instance running, I would jog for 30 seconds, then sprint for 30 seconds, then light jog 30 sec., sprint 30 sec. etc... for 4 mintues (just to say for a starting point, and add minutes for every next HIIT session (sp?) to about 20 min. or so. (ok maybe 20 is a bit much, lol)

And I just want to say thanks for all your through informative articles you put in on the board!

do the same pace for the same time and set the treadmill on the highest incline... i think you retain more muscle that way...at least i do.

I went from 215 to 175 treadmill three times a week. 1min at 4.0 and 2min at 5.5 alternate until you get a mile should equal to 12mins then 3.5 on the 13th min and 3.0 on the 14th min.

HIIT cardio is amazing for burning fat & holding on to muscle. It is less time consuming and more effective! IMO, doing it on the track beats the heck out of the treadmill. Much more intense and real.

I also would much prefer running on a track vs a treadmill. I hate feeling like I'm either going to fly off the end of the thing or run through the front of the machine. Ultimately nothing beats a good run in the great outdoors - you can still do your sprints with a stopwatch.
