Hello ladies..I need some help for my mother..Im not sure how a woman should eat as far as how many cals, pro, fats and carbs..A little background shes 5'3" 230, Diabetic and she had a tumor removed from her thigh almost a year ago and is still walking around on 1 crutch..she does go for therapy but for the most part she is very inactive.I know exercise would help her a great deal but i want to get her diet in check and help her drop as much weight as possible without exercise.Shes been doing atkins but gets upset when she doesnt cheat and shows no weight loss.I am assuming the diabetes meds have a role in this? Looking for some advice on what her macros should look like and any other thoughts you may have..sorry so long..thank you!! :help:

Hey Blackbeard thanks for posting. I'm sure there will be some ladies on here shortly to help you out. I wouldn't want to offer you any advice that could harm her. Just wanted to let you know that your post is being viewed and your not being ignored.
A little more detail may help. How old is she? How long has she been at this weight? Is she willing to put forth the effort and sacrifce to lose the weight? Does she have access to an indoor pool? This may take a minute but please post her current diet and her weakness and dislikes. This will really help narrow down what needs to be tweeked.

Thanks Thai.I appreciate your honesty! Shes 53 yrs old..Since her surgery 10 months ago she has added about 25 lbs..I just dont like these Dr's that tell a person to lose weight..of course everyone wants to be thin..I would appreciate more if they told her HOW to go about losing weight. I really do think this time she is ready to make a real effort to lose the weight..she understands that she needs to take care of herself and get her diabetes under control..Since ive really been on her case her glucose has been consistently around 120-140 instead of the mid to high 200's..She is currently doing water therapy(on her own) and does have access to a pool..OK her current diet..Like i mentioned the last 2 months she has been on atkins but ive told her to avoid gorging on things like bacon just because they are low carb.To be honest things are not weighed and calories arent counted..She has been eating grilled chicken, flank steak, and an occasional piece of fish along with green veggies..I think her biggest weakness is that she does not eat enough..she will have breakfast and then go all day without eating until dinner. She does not have a big appetite..Any other info needed please ask i visit the board more than once a day..and once again thank you...
