So... this question has been asked a billion times... but what brand of protein do you take?

I'm taking this stuff by a smaller company, located in Yorba Linda, CA... just a guy that makes his own protein. I think it is MegaMass -- MegaMuscle... I have it in my kitchen, but don't feel like walking out and reading the label... but it costs like 23 bucks for a 2lb tub of this shit... VERY fine, and mixes VERY well... goes down smooth with no aftertaste.

Do you find that smaller companies... like this one in Yorba Linda, make better products, on the whole, than the larger supplement companies, and for a much lower price.

Absolutely!Remember,with the larger companies,a good deal of what you're paying for is their MARKETING,which does NOT translate into QUALITY.The best deals you will ever find are those with very little PR,and that don't have a lot of additives/preservatives/fancy flavoring which ramp the costs up,and dilute the amount of actual protein/AA's per each serving.

I'm getting all of my protein from whole foods now, but when I wasn't, I used a casein/soy powder by Nikken, or Cytosport Muscle Milk, which I cut with Twinlab VegeFuel soy isolate. I always made it into a kind of puddingy sludge, so I'm not sure on the mixability in more than 3 ounces of water, but damned if it didn't taste good!

Oh yeah, and for the number of people I've turned on to Muscle Milk, Cytosport should pay me royalties. :p

I really like allthewhey (a big thank you to JJFigure for turning me onto it!). It has no flavor, which is a nice change from the regular proteins.

Also like EAS Simply Protein in choc and vanilla.

I love DPS. They always ship on time and the prices are great. I like muscle milk but I also like to just throw a scoop of it into crappy tasting protein that I aquire....it always makes it a little easier to drink.

Yeah, i have had MUCH better luck going with smaller companies... you can find them at local bodybuilding shows, or smaller supplement stores like the Supplement Warehouse in Chicago... it's on like 533 W. Diversey... I believe... just east of Clark.

You can also find some of these companies at the LARGER bodybuilding shows... but you are more apt to run into the marketing giants that charge you more to cover their ad and employee costs.

I don't know if I would say ANYTHING tastes like Shit Frisco... but I would say I've tasted some stuff where I've made comments "I'd rather eat shit and die" :)

Taste is relative... if you can handle it... then it is great. I have drank some protein before that has made others gagged. Even Isopure isn't that bad for me... it really takes some SHITTY stuff to make me think it is disgusting... like GNC's ProPerformance LOL

This is a smaller company and the protein is fantastic IMO..

No thickening agents, sweetened with splenda and tastes fantastic(also comes plain). I can mix 75g plus with about 8 oz of water in a rubbermaid shaker and never have lumps. It also seems to taste the same when mixed with milk instead of water. Fortified with glutamine peptides as well. Not very expensive either.

I can say that 90% of my supplements are from DPS. Great prices and is in my house 2 days after ordering.

Many will find this suprising, but I do not supplement protein. I see to it that I get enough out of my daily meals. Plus, I also drink liquid Myoplex throughout the day. I would love to purchase some protein powder, but I am trying to watch the budget. As for protein, I think a basic powder by weider is sufficient. I can't keep track of all the supplement companies. I try and keep things simple.

I'm using one i got from www.musclemass.com called MASSPRO...just whey with colostrum and about 2g of carbs added but it mixes like a dream and tastes great,the chocolate is made with real hersheys cocoa and dammit is it good. First one i had in alotta years that didn't have an artificial type taste.

For me, taste is a bonus. I look for something that doesn't clump up or stick to the side of the blender and then get stuck in my throat as I'm trying to down it. Optimum 100% whey is my choice cause I can mix it with water or milk and it doesn't taste too bad. It's not an obnoxious chocolate, and I'm even contemplating trying it with some chocolate milk for that protein that actually tastes like the dessert they promise.

By far, my favorite at this time is "All The Whey" vanilla Isolate...Yummy!!!

I haven't tried the chocolate yet, but the natural flavor is alright as well...flavorless.

I also like EAS "Simply Protein"....cheap and still effective.

If you like nextgen's products, you really need to check out http://www.allthewhey.com. Same quality product, no lumps, and much cheaper. I'm a whey isolate fan and switched from Proform to allthewhey's isolate.
