View Full Version : Who trains at home?
I'm curious. How many folks train at home vs. a gym. (or like my wife, multiple fricken gyms)
As a secondary question... If you do train at home, what kind of equip/weights do you have?

Me, I train at home. I don't have anything fancy but I have A LOT of basic stuff...

At home, have a cable station, and the basic dumbells and bars. Only bad thing about home, is it is hard to find a spotter. I love working out at home.

I have a home gym. 500 square feet. It has two 8'x8' lifting platforms for olympic lifts and deads. I have a power rack, separate squat stands, bench, and one of those weider lat machine, leg extension combos. Hex dumbbells from 5-55, 5 olympic bars, about 3000 lbs in iron and bumper plates. I also have an inversion table and I made a reverse hyper machine. Since I'm an olympic lifter, I don't need a spotter, even for squats. When I go real heavy I do them in the power rack. And if i need a spot in the bench, my wife can do it. And ir's sooo convenient to be able to workout anytime I like.

I also have bodysolid equipment that is in storage with 700lbs of iron (includes olympic and standard plates for dumbbells). This is what I used during high school when I was training for sports.

I prefer training at home, but when you are without sufficient space, you must join the gym.
I go to the gym for the atmosphere, but I used to workout at home.
I could do alot with just a Bench, DB's, and Dip/Chin station.
I would train at home if I could afford equipment and have a training partner who trains like I do.

Our gym is far from a powerlifting gym, it's doesn't qualify for a bodybuilding gym either.

I used to live at a place with a lot of equipment at home.. but even there I couldn't do what I felt was a "complete" workout.
Plus.. if you have a couple dumbell bars and have to switch up the weights for EVERY exercise it becomes a chore.. its nice to have a gym with all the different sized DBs.

That's the positive aspect of a gym Lestat. You can do just about any exercise on any machine. Someone like me would LOVE to have a front military hammer machine... but if I got specialized equipment like that for my house, it would cost me around 20,000.
Now, if I'm ever rich, I'm going to build my own gym in my house... and not have a gym membership LOL -- of course, I'll have my best friend there training with me... and his CLOSE CLOSE CLOSE friend. LOL
What's up?

My plan is to buy a place with a basement. . then load up the place with iron. Anyone who is interested in training, they will be welcome to train at the house of pain.

Move to Skokie, and I can train with you on the weekends. :)
It could be like Bfold's training days... video and all! :)
