So tonight I tried some long distance sled dragging after my squat workout. I used 330 pounds(on grass), which is a pretty heavy weight for me. I went 200' with it, and it took me about 2 minutes.

I will tell you right now, this is an awesome quad workout. My quads got extremely pumped, and I could barely bend my legs afterwards.

I definatly suggest you try this once in a while. I am hoping it will help my quads to become conditoned for some of the lighter speed type strongman events.

Which reminds me I had been thinking about this as some extra conditioning. I wonder if we could come up with something? I'm afraid come April we will be strong enough but run out of gas. Greg might have some suggestions.

When I weighed 200lbs I took a sled with 200lbs for a whole lap around the track -400m about 1320 feet or so - I fell down to the ground and couldn't get up for like 15 minutes.

Try dragging for speed with about 70% of your bodyweight. I do these and drags for distance one or two times per week. The drags for speed are a really effective way of training your heartrate. I usually do 10x50' with a 10-20 sec rest between sets.

That kind of sounds like one the workouts I used to do during offseason before football. Used to do sprints while dragging a tire.

WHEELBARROW, TAKE THE HANDLES, WHEELS AND STUFF OFF. THEN LOAD IT FULL. THE "TUB" PART IS THIN ENOUGH YOU COULD EASILY DRILL THOUGH AND BOLT SOMETHING ON TO ATTACH THE ROPE. USE LARGE FENDER WASHERS TO KEEP THE BOLTS FROM PULLING THOUGH.

XXXLTRP, That is what my sled is, a wheelbarrow. It is pretty cool because I can just load it with a bunch of scrap metal that I have, instead of lugging weights outside.
