How many of you are taking glucosamine?
I really like this stuff, as I feel it helps maintain the health of the joints. I am taking 1 gram a day. . .how about the rest of you?
I haven't tried it coz my joints are fine. If you really need it and it helps then fine, but be aware that high levels of glucosamine induces insulin resistance (by decreasing GLUT4 translocation), so it's not a supp to take lightly if you are a bodybuilder (or insulin resistant couch spud)!! I wonder if ALA would reduce this effect???

:weight: I have heavily considered a glucosamine + chondroitin supp especially during periods of extended heavy weight training, but ultimately decided against it due to cost and the long loading period before benefits even begin...
Would definetly use it if it got cheaper or I found a good deal on it though... injury is no fun at all:(

First of all, I do not have any connection what-so-ever with the company I've posted below.
However, a decent deal of buy 2 bottles and get 3 more free (total of 5) can be found at Puritan's Pride.
http://www.puritan.com/
They charge $24.45 for a bottle of 60 tablets so you could get 300 tablets for a grand total of $48.90. And, if you buy the bigger bottles (120 tabs or 240 tabs) the overall cost is even cheaper.
Hope this offers some help. :)

... a decent deal ... Yes, it sure is.. thank you... up until now, the best deal I had found was GNC's triflex chewables (cheaper per mg than the tabs.. go figure) which worked out to 5.5 doses of 500mg glucosamine and 400mg chondroitin for $1, and that was even with Gold Card, a coupon, and a special deal...
...the Puritan's pride deal shakes out to roughly 9 of the same 500/400 doses for $1 when you do the buy 2 get 3 deal on the 120cap size basic tabs w/o vitC or anything extra... that will save me some $; I appreciate it :)... I'll have to order there soon to protect my joints while lifting until vitamin deca is helping with that ;)...
I will update on how it works out and how effective I feel it is... but not for a while due to the long load period that I understand is needed to have glucosamine/chondroitin's effects become apparent
